Help registering a new Locum Life account

If you are signing up for an account yourself, follow the entire page of directions. If a Locum Life representative created an account for you, skip to the second section, verifying your account.

Initial registration

When first signing up for an account, visit the registration page. You'll need to enter your email address along with a username and a password. You'll also need to make sure you select Provider in the account type dropdown.

Selecting a username

When selecting a username, remember that it must:

  • be between 6 and 16 characters long
  • contain only letters, numbers, and underscores

Selecting a password

Your password should be something you can easily remember, but hard for other people to guess. We don't recommend you use common information about yourself, such as a pet's name, birthday, or anniversary. We also don't recommend you use dictionary words, such as "password" or "watermelon", because these are easily breached. When selecting a password, remember that it must:

  • be between 8 and 24 characters long
  • contain at least one lowercase letter
  • contain at least one uppercase letter
  • contain at least one number
  • contain at least one special character

Job alerts

You can optionally choose to receive job alerts. This isn't required to register for the service, but it does let you get the most out of your Locum Life account.

Terms and conditions

You must agree to the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use in order to register an account.

That's it!

Once the form is completed, click the Register button. The web portal will redirect you to a confirmation page if there were no problems with your account details. When your account has been created successfully and you see the "Registration Successful" page, move on to the next step.

Verifying your account

Once you've registered an account, you should get an email welcoming you to Locum Life (this may take a few minutes to arrive). In that email, there will be a link that says "verify email address". Click that link, and you will be taken to the Locum Life page that verifies your email address exists. You should see a message on the screen saying your email address was verified. You're now ready to log in.

(If you don't get the welcome email, try logging in with your username and password. The web portal will warn you that your account isn't verified, but it will also resend the verification email.)

You can either click the login link on the email verification page, or you can also click this login link. This will take you to the login page.

First time logging in

To log in, enter your username or your email address, and your password. If you created your account yourself, your password will be whatever you chose. If a Locum Life representative created your account, your password will be "LocumLife1!".

Once you're logged in, you'll need to provide your personal details so we can better match you with jobs.


The first two fields are for your first and last name.

Job preferences

The next two fields tell us what kind of jobs you're qualified for. You start by selecting a profession, which is whether you're a doctor, dentist, PA, pharmacist, etc. Once you've selected a profession, the specialties we work with for that profession will populate.

Now you can select what specialty(ies) you are qualified to work in. You can select more than one specialty. If you're on a phone or tablet, just tap on all the specialties you want to register for; if you're on a desktop computer, you'll need to hold the Ctrl button while you click on each specialty, otherwise the form will only accept a single entry at a time (if you're on a Mac, you'll need to hold the ⌘ key while you click on each specialty).


The next few fields tell us where you live. We can work with providers in the US (including Washington, DC), Puerto Rico, and Canada.

Contact info

The next two fields are for your phone number and email address. Your phone number can be in any valid format, but it must contain only ten digits (e.g., 202-555-1000, 202.555.1000, and (202) 555-1000 are all valid numbers, but 1-202-555-1000 is not).

But you already have my email address!

The email address field here is for contacting you about jobs, not about contacting you about your account. It's perfectly valid to use the same email address here, but some providers want more flexibility so we allow you to use different addresses for account administration and jobs.

All done!

Once you've filled in all the information, click the Add Provider button at the bottom of the form to submit your provider profile. If there were no problems, you'll be redirected to a success page. Now you're ready to start using your account! You can click the Home link on the main menu to go to the home page, or you can click the user icon next to your username to go to your account page.

Updating your password (optional)

If a Locum Life representative created your account, you'll want to change your password to keep your account private. (If you created your own account and password, you're all done!) Go to your account page by clicking the user icon next to your username in the main menu.

On your account page, there are two main sections: your Locum Life account page, and your provider profile page. The Locum Life account section header contains your username and the heading "Provider". To change your password, look for the Password field in the account section and click the Change Password link. This loads a form that lets you change your password. Enter and re-enter your new password, making sure it meets all the password requirements, and enter your old password to authorize the password change. Click the Change Password button at the bottom of the form. If everything was correct, you should be redirected to a confirmation page saying your password was changed successfully.
